Post-jam update (multiple difficulties!)
Anaphylaxis » Devlog
Hello everyone,
Greetings and congratulations to all the other people who submitted a game to the jam! I had a lot of fun playing all of your games, and I know you all will continue to make great games. With that being said, I want to highlight the main problem that came up with my game in the jam, which is that the difficulty is too high. This was a blunder on my end, and I apologize for the frustration it caused. I've released an update tonight that hopefully alleviates that problem.
The changes of this update are:
- Added three different difficulty options: Casual, Challenging, and Hardcore.
- Casual: Spiders take three shots before dying and move at a moderate speed.
- Challenging: Spiders take three shots before dying and move slightly faster.
- Hardcore: Spiders take four shots before dying and move significantly faster. (This mode is closest to v1.0's difficulty with the exception of spiders having 4 health instead of 5.)
- The Handgun now carries only 10 rounds instead of 12.
- The Handgun Ammo pickup now only gives 10 rounds instead of 12.
- Swapped the locations of both safes.
- Added a blood particle effect when spiders are hit to make it easier to tell when your shots land or not.
- The description of the Handgun, Shotgun, and Magnum now list their respective ammo capacities.
- Updated the credits to thank everyone who gave their feedback in the jam comments.
- Added a blurb in the after action report to say whether or not you unlocked a safe in the level.
Once again, thank you to everyone who submitted their feedback on the game. I hope to make a full version of Anaphylaxis soon!
